2019 Bar Exams: 2,103 of 7,685 examinees passes

MANILA –  A total of 2,103 examinees passed the 2019 Bar, 27.36% higher than 2018, Bar Chairman Estela Perlas Bernabe confirmed on Wed (April 29).

The result was posted on the high court’s official website due to the government enforced lockdown on several areas in Luzon.

University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi’s Mae Diane Azores topped the Bar with 91.049% followed by UE’s Princess Fatima Parahiman who got a grade of 89.523% and UST’s Myra Baranda landed on No. 3 with 88.825%.

The passing grade this year was lowered at 74 percent.

“The court en banc had decided to lower the passing rate… in light of among other considerations the discerned need for younger and technologically adept lawyers to help different fronts of society as we meet the peculiar challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and transition to the new normal,” said Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe, head of 2019 Bar Examinations Committee. The 2019 Bar exams were held at UST during all four Sundays of the month of November.
