Agong to consult with Malay Rulers amid talks of State of Emergency

PETALING JAYA – Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah seek to consult other Malay rulers on the recommendations he received from his Cabinet regarding the statement issued by Istana Negara.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said that the Agong has advised the public to exercise calm and patience while waiting for the decision.

The King also advised the public to not make any speculations that could cause confusion and anxiety that can disrupt the peace of the country.

Ahmad Fadil added that in the continuing spike of Covid-19 surge in the country, the King also encouraged the rakyat to help the government and adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to help combat the Covid-19 virus and ensure the safety of the people.

The King also invited the public to pray together with him for the country to always be protected and blessed from the threat of Covid-19 pandemic and that the virus will be eliminated immediately.

The statement, did not provide anymore details regarding the proclamation of the emergency that are currently being speculated.

Ahmad Fadil also confirmed that the audience was also requested by prime minister Muhyiddin after attending the special cabinet meeting. The special cabinet meeting on Friday speculated that several proposal regarding the upcoming Budget 2021 tabling next month while the country continues to deal with the third wave of Covid-19 infection and also the legitimacy of the current rulling government Perikatan Nasional (PN) headed by Prime Minister Muhyiddin.
