AIMS President Visit Enhances Indonesia’s Global Sports Standing

Sports diplomacy in Jakarta was also boosted when AIMS President Stephan Fox  came to Indonesia, which strengthened the powers of the country in the world of sports. On January 14, 2026, the leader of the Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS) also presented himself to the leadership of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) as not only a competitor but also a strategic international sports partner.

Boosting Indonesia’s Sports Diplomacy

KOI President Raja Sapta Oktohari  indicated that the visit was an indicator that the world had confidence in Indonesia in hosting sport to everyone and Olympic ideals. The discussions included collaboration between KOI and AIMS and SportAccord, which is the umbrella body to more than 120 international sports federations, and this is in relation to capacity building, education and global sports ecosystems. Indonesia has now a more significant role in future world sport forums such as the SportAccord Convention that will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in May 2026.
