AirAsia says it will resume domestic flights starting April 29

KUALA LUMPUR – Southeast Asia’s largest budget-carrier announced on Friday that it will resume its scheduled domestic flights starting April 29, 2020 before gradually adding internationals flights after it halted operations due to COVID-19 pandemic.

AirAsia Group Bhd confirmed that international flights to Thailand and the Philippines are to resume on May 1, while flights to Indonesia are set to operate starting May 7.

According to their statement, the resumption of domestic flighs will be subject to the approval of various local authorities.

AirAsia Group president Bo Lingam they have taken measures to disinfect the aircraft as each aircraft will be fitted with hospital-standard High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters.

“At AirAsia, the safety and well-being of our guests and employees is always our highest priority. We work actively with all our regulators, local governments, civil aviation, and health authorities, including adhering to guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to ensure the highest standards of compliance and conformance are in place for every single flight we operate in our network.” he said in the statement. Guests are advised to practive the universally recommended protective precautionary measures, such as wearing face mask, social distancing and personal hygiene.
