MANILA – Motorcycle ride-hailing app Angkas is now extending their help to the frontliners in Manila by providing for their free transportation Motorcycle ride-hailing app Angkas in partnership with Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.

According to Moreno, Angkas also donated shields/barriers in the turnover held yesterday.

Under the agreement sign by Moreno and Angkas chief transport advocate George Royeca, the company will dispatched riders for the following hospitals: Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Maynila, Ospital ng Sampaloc, Ospital ng Tondo, Sta. Ana Hospital and Justice Jose Abad Santos Memorial Hospital to transport the medical frontliners.

Royeca said that Angkas recognized the big contribution of the health-care workers and this is Angkas way of helping them to be more protected and at the same time alleviate the stress of contending with traffic.

There are around 1,000 medical frontliners working in the district hospitals.

Angkas will be using the ‘barriers’ being enforced by DILG and IATF that should be worn by driver. A study conducted by Angkas and University of the Philippines-College of Public Health has shown that barriers has reduced the risk of the virus being transmitted between the driver and the rider.

As of August 10, there are 5,179 Covid-19 cases with 3,690 recoveries and 236 deaths. Angkas’ free rides will be offered until Aug. 18.
