Facing the pandemic COVID-19 has been challenging to all filipinos. In the middle of this dilemma, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is taking actions to help the people take the edge off this problem.

One of it was the resolution of suspension for the market vendors and stall owners’ rental fees to be temporarily halted this month.

The City Council signed Resolution No. 85 Series of 2020 granting “a moratorium on all business owners within the City of Manila, whether public or privatized to pay their rentals for the duration of the enhanced neighborhood quarantine due to coronavirus disease.

This proposal was in theory to help attenuate the effect of an enhanced neighborhood quarantine declaration that would significantly affect the liquidity of business owners.

On the other hand, Manila PIO chief informed that Robinsons Malls, 168 Mall and Settimo Drago Ratto Properties Inc. comply to the city government’s appeal to waive rental fees for their tenants.

From March 17 to April 12, President Rodrigo Duterte put all of Luzon under enhanced community quarantine, the latest among government steps to curb the spread of the deadly illness. In line with this, the directive suspension of mass transportation has caused inconveniency to a lot of manila workers.

This was another reason for Mareno in opening 531 hotel rooms for health workers employed in the city in order to help them with the suspension of public transportation.

This crisis is undeniably hard to many filipinos but there are people who set an example to rise in the midst of struggle in life.
