Bohol is in the process of preparing to host serious ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) conferences beginning January 26, 2026, in Panglao, the Philippines launch as 2026 ASEAN Chair. Senior economic officials from 10 member states, plus Timor-Leste observers, will convene for the 57th ASEAN Senior Economic Officials Meeting (SEOM 1/57) and 18th AEC Committee of the Whole, discussing Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs), digital economy frameworks, global value chains, circular economy initiatives, and ASEAN Community Vision 2045. Heightened security will be provided by no-sail areas around the Alona Beach up to February 1, augmented patrol along major travel routes and road warnings. These meetings promote regional trade, sustainability and integration of Timor-Leste and increase local tourism and promote the Bohol Chocolate Hills, tarsiers and heritage as a host destination in the Philippines during the theme of Inclusion and Sustainability.
