LOS ANGELES – Chadwick Boseman, the star of Marvel’s movie Black Panther, has died at the age of 43 after his 4 year battle with colon cancer.

The Black Panther star did not publicly discussed his health conditions. He was first diagnosed with the disease in 2016 but continued to do Hollywood films.

According to the statement posted on the actor’s social media accounts, that is was his honour to bring T’Challa to life in Black Panther and that he died in his home together with his wife and family by his side.

Chadwick’s co-stars took to social media and expressed their condolences to his love ones.

Back in April, Boseman posted a video promoting an initiative to support hospitals that is serving African-American communities and video shows his seemingly gaunt appearance alarmed the fans. It was one the first hints of his failing health, although nothing was confirmed.

Boseman became the first black superhero to have a stand alone in the Marvel franchise with 2018’s Black Panther. The movie, set in a fictional kingdom called Wakanda, the movie went on to be nominated for best picture at the Oscars with over US$1 billion gross worldwide.
