Ranking points are a key incentive for athletes beyond the cash prizes. As per the Super 1000 format, the champion of each category will earn 13,500 points. These points can significantly impact a player’s seeding in upcoming events and overall world ranking.

The complete breakdown of ranking points is as follows:

  • Winner: 13,500 points
  • Runner-up: 11,500 points
  • Semi-finalist: 9,500 points
  • Quarter-finalist: 7,400 points
  • Second round: 5,400 points
  • First round: 3,300 points

Such arguments are especially crucial to the players who are still trying to come to terms with a bad outing, such as some of the top players in India who did not do well in the Japan Open. Some players like Lakshya Sen, PV Sindhu and men’s doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy are in search of good performance in this tournament to regain lost ground in the standings.
