Chunyun: 2025 Spring Festival Travel Rush expected to witness 9 billion cross-regional trips
‘Chunyun’ is also known as the annual Spring Festival Travel Rush celebrated before the arrival of the Chinese New Year. It is a tradition followed by the people of China for years and they unite with their family & friends for dinner in the course of Chinese new year eve. The Spring Festival is celebrated in 2025 from January 14 to February 22, 2025 (in total forty days) and the Chinese New Year falls on January 29, 2025.
“We are committed to delivering a safe, warm and convenient Spring Festival Journey… We’re actively working on solutions and making preparations to ensure a smoother journey for everyone” said Li Chunlin, Deputy Head of the National Development and Reform Commission.
He has also expressed on a video conference that there is a 7 percent increase from the previous year in the trips of people. Also, Li Chunlin listed out the efforts of officials to enhance the passenger flow and their uninterrupted travel with an improved transportation and to oversee them properly. The travel of this festival reaches its peak on January 25 which is the start of the holiday, so the rail sector has planned to increase from 14,100 to 14,200 rail services. The overnight high speed services are available in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The Ministry of Transport has also improved facilities for the EV vehicles for charging while traveling a long distance.
