Covid-19: Friday prayers to proceed with slight adjustments

PUTRAJAYA – Friday prayers in the Federal Territories continue today.

“After receiving His Royal Highness His Majesty the late His Highness Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni the late Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah, Friday prayers in the Federal Territories for today continues, “the statement read.

Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said that the obligatory Friday prayers for all Muslim males should proceed with minor adjustments.

According to The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of religious affairs, the minor adjustments includes shortening the sermon, perform ablutions at home and wearing of face masks.

Zulkifli also urged the mosque committees to provide hand sanitisers as part of preventive measures.

“Those showing symptoms of the virus need not attend the prayers, as they are categorised as those who are sick.” Zulkifli said Friday prayers could only be replaced by Zohor prayers when the pandemic  had spread uncontrollably in the country.
