Covid-19: Over 270 Vietnamese returns home from Malaysia

HANOI –  Over 270 Vietnamese who were stranded in Malaysia due to travel restrictions enforced amidst the coronavirus pandemic, have returned home on May 10.

Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier, together with the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia made the flight possible. The passengers included those who were elderly and sick people, students without a place to stay due to dormitory closures, workers with visa and work permit expiration and tourist.

All of the passengers together with the crew were kept under quarantine and had medical checks-up in line with regulations upon their arrival at Da Nang International Airport, airport health officials said. More flights are expected in line with Prime Minister’s directive to conduct repatriation flights for their citizens. Tthe Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Ministry of Transport, domestic competent agencies and Vietnamese embassy abroad will be spearheading the initiative.
