Covid-19 Patient who refused treatment, bites nurse in the face

GUANGZHOU – A nurse was allegedly attacked by a Covid-19 positive Nigerian patient after refusing to get treatment from the hospital.

According to ZaoBao, a 47-year-old Covid-19 patient was identified as Okonkwonwoye Chika Patrick, a Nigerian citizen who entered Guangzhou on 20 March.

The patient refused to cooperate and undergo medical tests and assaulted the nurse who tried to stop him.

The nurse suffers injuries to her face, neck and waist. The viral footage posted online shows scratches on her face and neck.

Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau also received a report that a patient  on ward no. 8 were not cooperating with the treatment and eventually hurting the attending nurse. The police will be opening a criminical case and the security within the hospital’s isolation ward has been strengthened. The patient after treatment will be immediately taken to be punished under the laws and regulations of the Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases Law, Criminal Law and the Exit and Entry Administration Law.
