Covid-19: Selangor to offer free Covid-19 testing for Sabah returnees

KUALA LUMPUR – The Selangor government has offered screening for its residents who were returning from Sabah between September 20 and 26.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that due to the spike in positive Covid-19 cases after the state elections, all Selangorians can take the COVID-19 test for free.

He added that the screening can be conducted at all Selcare Clinic outlets that are owned by the government subsidiary Selgate Healthcare Sdn Bhd. Interested citizens will need to provide flight documents from Sabah and a proof of residence in Selangor.

Amirudin said that the state government believes that with the necessary measures in place, the country will be able to curb the spread of the virus.

As Selangor supports the National Security Council’s conditional movement control order initiative of prohibiting clubs and bars from reopening, Amirudin said that all restaurants and bars in Selangor will be allowed to open and serve customers until 11PM starting October 3.

On Friday (Oct 2), The country recorded its highest daily increase in COVID-19 positive cases since the pandemic started. The steady climb in cases were attributed to the recent Sabah state elections. Around 700 police personnel are currently undergoing quarantine after they were sent to Sabah to assist with the state elections.
