Covid-19: Three more cases in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR – Three more new Covid-19 cases were reported on Friday (Feb 28), bringing the total to 25. 22 patients have recovered and have been discharged.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said one of the new cases was a Japanese woman, aged 41, who works in Malaysia. She also had history of flying in Japan and Indonesia.

The 25th case involves a 54-year-old Italian who is married to a Malaysian. He had history of traveling to Italy between Feb 15 and 21. He’s currently receiving treatment at Hospital Sungai Buloh.

Dr Noor Hisham said that continuous monitoring on people who had close contact with the victims are being implemented. As of the moment, total 1,569 individuals have undergone tests.

“23 tested positive for Covid-19 and 1,523 negative, while another 23 are still waiting for the additional laboratory test results,” he said.

The health minister advised its citizen to postpone all travels to cities and provinces in China affected by the epidemic, as well as Japan, South Korea and Iran. The measures will be enforced with immediate effect.
