Established in the year 1921 and it still continues to showcase the legacy of this game through generations. This ‘Emperor’s Cup’ is organised by the Japan Football Association (JFA) and the 2025 league is its 105th edition. It is played in the format of knockout which is open to a diverse range of teams, who are from the other leagues like J1 and J2 Leagues & other regional teams from the universities and schools. The winner of this ‘Emperor’s Cup’ will be qualified to take part in the AFC Champions League Elite and Japanese Super Cup.
