Recognising the importance of sports especially for women has been raised globally to foster the empowerment of women through sports. Because it is one of the strongest mediums to widen one’s career completely. The participation of a large number of women in sports both on national and international events can be witnessed consistently. On 9th of January 2025, one such event took place in the city of Tohoku at King of the Hill School and WBAJ lauded Women’s Baseball at the Signing Ceremony. And there, All Japan Women’s Baseball Association (WBAJ) has certified the city Tohoku as the ‘Women’s Baseball Town’ and this city becomes the first to be recognised by WBAJ.
“It is thanks to the efforts of the Hanamaki Higashi High School girl’s baseball team that this certification was achieved” said Mayor Ueda
The period of this certification is five years. Around two hundred participants have attended this event in which the representatives from the 30 sponsoring companies of Ihatov Hanamaki Tournament, also took part in the wonderful event.
