
A wonderful and an iconic test series between India and England kicked off today which has been titled ‘Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy’ to honor the legendary cricketers who have contributed tonnes of wickets and runs to the international test cricket format for their countries respectively. Today, 20 June becomes a notable day for the Indian fans because history has witnessed the wonderful debutants in which three made it in England and others in Jamaica.
List of Indian Debutants in International Test Format
1.Sourav Ganguly (1996)
Sourav Ganguly who is fondly called ‘Dada’ by his fans made his test debut under the captainship of Azharuddin on this day against England at the world famous venue for the test cricket match ‘Lord’s’. He scored 131 on his debut with his stroke play and fearless temperament that made an instant impact in the game. Till date his legacy of leadership makes him India’s most influential skippers of all time.
2.Rahul Dravid (1996)
“The Wall of Indian Test Cricket”, the legendary test player Rahul Dravid shares the debutant stage with his contemporary player Sourav Ganguly on this same day at the same venue and team. He excelled on his debut match by scoring a swashbuckling 95 runs that showcased his technical brilliance and composure against a top-tier English attack.

3.Virat Kohli (2011)
Words go short to describe this King and his contribution to team India by being the Mr.Consistent in every match he plays. With few more runs short to score 10,000 in the test format, this legend decided to step down from his test career a month ago and made his debut in 2011 at Kingston against West Indies. The first test of Virat wasn’t the one he expected but now looking at his complete career showcases that he has shaped as an ideal batter to rely on at any tougher situations for his team in all the three formats, specifically in both the white and red-ball matches.
4.Sai Sudharsan (2025)
The IPL Star is now stepping into the world of ‘TEST’ cricket as a debutant against England under the debut skipper Shubmann Gill. A lot more way to go for this excellent domestic performer, to shine and dominate the opponents both in Red-Ball & White Ball matches.
