Cannes 2025: Japan’s Imagica Backs Emerging Filmmakers with Five-Year Program

First time, a strategic five year initiative has been agreed between Imagica Group who are from Japan and Cannes, in the 90 years of the company’s history. Their all-around video services will now be known globally, as they agreed to support the emerging filmmakers at Cannes. And the upcoming or budding movie makers will maintain a long-term relationship with the company that helps them to survive in the industry effectively through the promising projects and talents.

Earning the distribution rights, co-production credits or revenue shares will make the company more successful both economically and creatively. Majorly, this collaboration will easily navigate the Japanese movies to enter into the international stage and bridge the gap in the cultural diplomacy.

“International film festivals in Europe and elsewhere are highly acclaimed for works depicting social issues and unique artistic expressions, but in Japan, there are still high hurdles to overcome in order to produce such works. That is why we wanted to build this platform to give talented young creators the chance to diversify our film culture and enhance the international appeal of Japanese films.” – Shunjiro Nagase, President, Imagica Group.

As per the sources that are available states that, the first movie that wins the financing of the company, will be unfurled at the Cannes on 14 May 2025, with the presence of Imagica Group’s president and the acclaimed Japanese director, Hirokazu Koreeda.
