July 23 2025 is not just another date that you can find on your calendar. This day is also associated with other national and international awareness sessions, although this is widely known in Indonesia as National Children Day. Such celebrations encompass various spheres of national health, human rights of children, and education reform where all of the events drive people into thinking and taking effective actions.
The four most important commemorations celebrated in July 23 this year are as follows:
Celebrated every year on July 23 in Indonesia, the National Children Day shows the national attention to children welfare. It also reminds society that their responsibility as parents is to ensure that they offer a safe and supportive environment, in which children may grow and flourish.
This is the 41st year when the event is being celebrated with the theme of Great Children, Strong Indonesia, Towards Golden Indonesia 2045. Their concern is keeping children away of violence, discrimination and exploitation, they want to keep their voices heard and their rights respected.
Children are considered to be the future pillars of the nation and therefore, this day requires the coming together of the family, schools and government bodies in a bid to ensure that the rights of all children do not go unprotected and the potentials that are still in them are nurtured.
Another initiative is Day Without Television, which takes place on the same day 23 July, convincing people to spend less time in front of their screens and more on meaningful and family interactions, particularly children.
Initiated firstly in 2008 by the Children Media Education Foundation (YPMA) under an umbrella of a national coalition, this day questions individuals on “their need to reflect on the role played by television content.” It does not urge people to avoid the use of media, but rather creates awareness about excessive or inappropriate usage of media.
Families that were promoted to share common activities such as reading, storytelling, playing games outside or discussing creative ideas together instead of watching a TV passively. The ultimate aim is to alleviate the reliance of the children on the screen media and increase their cognitive and emotional status.
Initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, along with the cooperation of the Indonesian pharmaceutical companies, Worm Awareness Day is an event whose aim is to raise awareness of a significant health issue that is the infection of parasitic worms in children.
Upon its launching, statistics revealed that worm infestation in Indonesian children stood at about 30 percent, a fact that can affect their physical development, learning as well as the general health. The day is used to remind people about the importance of hygiene, clean surroundings and regular deworming, particularly in regions which do not have proper sanitation.
Through this day, health care organizations anticipate that people will be provoked into implementing the changes in their behaviors to make their communities healthier and the level of infections among the children of school-going ages to drop.
The month of July 23 is globally known as World Sjogren Day and this day helps to create awareness of Sjogren syndrome. Sjogren syndrome is a chronic autoimmune disorder and it mostly affects the salivary and tear glands.
People with Sjogrens have been known to have dry eyes, dryness of the mouth, fatigue, and pain in the joints, but the disease has not received enough attention because of its general symptoms. It is a day of remembrance in honor of Dr. Henrik Sjogren who was the first medical practitioner who identified the disease and the day encourages the medical communities to strengthen the establishment of cases at earlier stages.
This international campaign creates a focus on patient education, research into medicine and the systems that are made available to support individuals with the syndrome so that they can attain the proper care and quality of life.

Although on July 23, each celebration is dedicated to various problems, ranging from the rights of children to health and media behavior, the common point of all of them is to attract attention to new issues, make more people responsible, and influence the positive change of society. The observances remind individuals, families, and institutions to do their bit to make the world more informed, caring, and healthier.
