Global superstar Lalisa Manobal has officially stepped into her role as the Amazing Thailand Ambassador for 2026, marking the occasion with a profound sartorial tribute. During the “Feel All the Feelings” campaign launch at Bangkok’s iconic Wat Arun, she dazzled in a Lisa custom Balmain creation that bridged decades of fashion diplomacy. The gown is the contemporary reinterpretation of the legendary Nuit a Londres that was first designed in 1960 by Pierre Balmain to Greece Queen Mother Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, in Thailand. This historical reverberation brought to the fore the 170-year diplomatic relationship between Thailand and France through the high fashion medium.
Created and designed by Olivier Rousteing, the masterpiece is adorned with gorgeous gold brocades of Thai silk exquisitely in Yok Thong and chartreuse. This specific Lisa custom Balmain ensemble was meticulously draped to mirror the regal silhouettes favored by the royal court in the mid-20th century. The maison played with the timelessness of local skills by using traditional fabrics in a modern bustier shape with a sweeping train. The appearance was enhanced by ruby-decorated Bvlgari high jewelry and a handmade gold clutch by the local brand Jasmina, so that every element was a glorification of her heritage.
As the premier Amazing Thailand Ambassador, Lisa is leveraging her global influence to transform the nation’s tourism image into a hub of high-value leisure and culture. The very fact that she decided to pay tribute to the Queen Mother of Thailand by using this particular revision of the archives speaks to her own desire to preserve the national identity and at the same time take over the global scene. This is the collaboration of the House of Balmain and the Tourism Authority of Thailand to document the complicated narratives of history, style and national pride to a large, contemporary audience through the lens of celebrity power.
