Malaysia has been recognized as one of the world’s most successful countries in dealing with and controlling the Covid-29 pandemic, Premier Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.

Speaking to around 250 workers of the Department of Prime Minister at their meeting here today after the introduction of the Movement Control Order (MCO), Muhyiddin said the success was due to the hard work and cooperation.

He said that they are thankful that in coping with the Covid-19 that hit the world including Malaysia, Malaysia has been able to sail through a very challenging time. It is all because of the enormous efforts that they have put together, both at the government and at the grassroots level, to treat it carefully, confidently and firmly to take swift and precise decisions to avoid the spread of the disease.

Muhyiddin also expressed his appreciation to civil servants and frontliners, including physicians , nurses, armed forces, police, the National Security Council, the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and the Department of Social Welfare, for their efforts to tackle Covid-19.

He said that Malaysia today was at the stage of the Recovery Movement Control Order which offers many opportunities. Resuming as normal. The new process of rehabilitation, they are going through is more difficult. It is one more level they need to look closely at because (the question of) Covid-19 is not solved until a vaccine has been identified, we must move forward, maybe faster than other pandemic countries.

The cumulative number of cases recorded in Malaysia as of midday yesterday is 8,663 with 121 deaths and only 77 active cases.
