Manila Metro to have curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Effective March 15

As part of community quarantine steps to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will enforce a curfew within the National Capital Area.

MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia announced at a press conference on Saturday that all Metro Manila mayors agreed to issue a resolution to impose a curfew from 8 p.m. At 5 a.m., from 15 March till 14 April.

Both jobs are exempted from the curfew.

The official at the MMDA also said there would be no detention but just verbal apprehension.

The government increased the Code Red Sub-Level 2 warning due to the country’s growing number of COVID-19 infections.

As part of a “group quarantine” in Metro Manila, President Rodrigo Duterte declared stricter steps to combat the spread of COVID-19 including job and class suspensions as well as travel restrictions.

On Saturday the Palace issued guidance on social distance and group quarantine at Metro Manila covering, among others, class cancellations, travel restrictions, transport guidance.
