Mark Lee Clinches Best Actor Award at First-Ever Asian Art Film Awards for ‘Number 2’

Veteran Singaporean actor Mark Lee has received international acclaim once again, being awarded Best Actor at the first Asian Art Film Awards in Macao. The 56 year old actor was honoured with the accolade for his remarkable portrayal of a drag queen in Number 2 the much anticipated follow up to the 2020 film Number 1.

The ceremony recognizes the strength of Lee’s performance and puts him head to head against strong competition from other actors from Asia including South Korea’s Kim Dae-gun and China’s Xiaoshenyang in a performance that makes him top actor honors. Number 2 was a major project for Lee who was previously nominated for Best Leading Actor at the Golden Horse Awards.

Jaspers Lai received the award for Mark Lee. Lee’s wife Catherine Ng shared a note of congratulations on Instagram that emphasized the effort from the entire team behind the film.

This victory adds to Lee’s international awards collection. He was selected as the Best Actor at the International Film Festival in Ho Chi Minh City for his performance in Wonderland.

Number 2 also helped Singapore’s success at the awards with the film King Of Hawkers directed by Kelvin Sng taking home Best Feature Film. The Asian Art Film Awards show continues to bring a spotlight on talent in the industry but Mark Lee continues to be one of the best loved stars among them all.
