KUALA LUMPUR – The movement control order (MCO) or the conditional movement control order (CMCO) can be reinstated if the Covid-19 cases continue to spike over the next two weeks.

According to Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, if Covid-19 local transmission positive cases escalate, the government has no choice but to implement to stricter MCO to curb the spread of the disease.

If there is a sudden increase of cases in the next two weeks, The Health Director-General said that they will do contact tracing.

The recent rise of transmission were attributed to the people not following the standard operating procedure set by the government. He said that during MCO, the number of cases might be high but the compliance of the public were also high.

Dr Noor Hisham encouraged Malaysians to stay at home so the government can do its job on containing the outbreak.

He also expressed disappointment on the gathering by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s supporters yesterday saying its said to see people breached the SOP. The Ministry is currently monitoring the possible transmission among the supporters within the next two weeks.

Dr Noor Hisham said theres also a possibility of a third wave of Covid-19 infections and that the team would have to work hard to prevent those from happening. The Health director-general once again reminded the public to adhere to the Aidiladha SOP set by the government in the upcoming festivity this Friday.
