NewJeans HYBE Legal Battle: BTS Mentioned in Court as Contract Dispute Continues

The current HYBE NewJeans court case has taken a twist as the attorneys introduced the BTS group into the court case discussion. The case over a contract between the popular girl group NewJeans and its agency ADOR, the subsidiary company of HYBE Corporation, had another vigorous hearing at the Seoul Central District Court on July 24, 2025.

The NewJeans HYBE court case revolves around the legitimacy of the exclusive contract of the group with ADOR. This recent court case, however, changed the game by bringing a twist on the matter when NewJeans’ legal case brought up the mention of BTS when clarifying the reasons behind what HYBE is doing to former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin.

Why NewJeans Lawyers Brought BTS into the HYBE Legal Battle

In the legal case, the lawyers of NewJeans said that HYBE was afraid of the enormous success enjoyed by the girl group under the leadership of Min Hee Jin. They said that Bang Si Hyuk, the founder of HYBE, tallied with impressive success with BTS, but had never before dealt with an effective female group at all, until NewJeans.

Multi-labels are also multiple and the question is why does HYBE loath ADOR? This is because Bang Si Hyuk, the Chairman, has turned BTS into a massive success, but he has never turned a girl group successful,” the legal team explained during the court.

The lawyers also clarified that when Min Hee Jin made a superb success with NewJeans in just two years, HYBE was both joyous and suspicious. According to them, HYBE audited Min Hee Jin as soon as she complained about poor treatment and a copying problem.

BTS Fans React to NewJeans HYBE Legal Battle

The fact that NewJeans’ HYBE legal battle involved BTS has elicited intense reactions on social media. A lot of ARMYs were upset that their beloved band is getting involved in a legal battle that they have nothing to do with. Social media outlets have been ablaze with rumours of backstage politics between the various labels under HYBE itself.

ADOR has not directly addressed these accusations, whereas HYBE has not acted on the claim that BTS is being compared to. The firm is still concentrating on the primary lawsuits without commenting on the contentious utterances in the court.

The court has set a mediation session, which will be conducted behind closed doors on August 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM KST. ADOR and NewJeans will be required to come with official mediation proposals. In case of failure on mediation, the last decision of this NewJeans HYBE legal dispute is to be issued on October 30, 2025.
