Online Wedding through ZOOM: Love is Still in the Air Amidst Pandemic Virus

Last updated on May 7th, 2021 at 09:17 am

Since the unfolding of the novel coronavirus epidemic, the modern wedding industry is facing an unparalleled challenge and couples are cutting down their celebrations.

Of course, the overall threat to public health posed by the virus is of great concern, as is the future of small businesses, wages, rent and mortgage payments, food and resources and our ability to travel.

With the approaching wedding season, many couples will also question whether their upcoming marriages will be able to proceed as planned, or whether they will be forced to postpone or even cancel their big day.

But love is still in the air and coronavirus can’t stop it!

Long-time partners Vianka Amurao and Coby Sarreal have spent many outdoor trips in the last few years: from mountains and seas to villages. While traveling they still held their free spirits and their love for each other deepened with every destination they conquered. Together, they visited the Himalayas and North Africa’s tallest Atlas mountains.

The two never dreamed that they would at last tie the knot in the most unlikely location one day: at home. Vianka is a stylist and manufacturer in the closet, while Coby is a saxophone player and leads a hiking club.

The couple met in Portugal late last year and on November 2020 agreed to get married in the scenic Sagada mountains. But their preparations were delayed by the raging COVID-19 pandemic. Vianka and Coby, being the adventurous people as they are, made a quite special, and very spontaneous decision.

Here’s the plot twist, they decided to hold their wedding online, attending and marching through Zoom with the entire entourage. It took a minimum of five days for the pair to register for the wedding online.

Organizing the wedding under quarantine was also a struggle. Vianka recalled having shipped everything through Grab or Lalamove.

Despite being locked up at home, Vianka went in gown and veil to her wedding, while Coby was dashing in his suit. All set from color palette, # LetsMakeitHappyn wedding hashtag, and invitations rolled out online, the pair had a tech run on the big day’s eve.

The reception hadn’t gone without fanfare last April 20.

What a way to start their marriage with a plot twist. Thanks to zoom, there are possibilities in making things happen especially with this kind of special event in someone’s life.
