BREAKING: PAGASA Says Thunderstorms Unlikely Over Metro Manila and Nearby Provinces

According to its 10:00 AM Thunderstorm Information bulletin on Tuesday, PAGASA said that thunderstorms are not likely to form in the Greater Metro Manila Area in the next 12 hours.

The advisory covers a lot of ground, including Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite. These places are all at the “Information” level, which is the lowest level in the agency’s thunderstorm warning system. This level means that the weather right now is not good for thunderstorms to form, so the rest of the day should be fairly stable.

There are four levels of PAGASA’s thunderstorm warning system: Information, Watch, Advisory (Expecting), and Advisory (Affecting). At the “Information” level, thunderstorms are less likely to happen in the next 12 hours. At the “Watch level”, the thunderstorms are likely to occur in the next 12 hours. At “Advisory (Expecting)” level, the thunderstorms are likely to affect the area within the next 2 – 3 hours and at “Advisory (Affecting)”, the thunderstorms are active and these are the most prone areas.

The agency stressed that localized convective activity, which is caused by daytime heating, could still cause short rain showers or isolated thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening.

People who live in the affected areas should keep an eye on official weather reports, even though the risk is currently low. Conditions can change quickly. PAGASA also told people to be careful when planning outdoor activities, especially during the hottest parts of the day when the weather can change quickly.

This new warning comes just after PAGASA officially announced the start of the Philippines’ warm and dry season. From March to May, the weather is usually warm, humid, and generally nice, with short-lived thunderstorms that come and go.

There have been no reports of higher-level thunderstorm warnings or other weather problems in the areas covered by this issuance.
