PETALING JAYA – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be delivering a special announcement today at 4PM, concerning the latest developments and updates on the recovery movement control order (RMCO).

The special announcement will be broadcasted live today through local TV stations Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Bernama TV, TV3 and Astro Awani

RMCO was announced by the prime minister last June 7 to replace the conditional movement control order after Malaysia slowly contained the spread of Covid-19 in the country. RMCO came into effect on June 10 with business sectors reopening but with strict Covid-19 restrictions and standard operation procedures to lessen the transmission of the virus.

RMCO is due to end on August 31.

Earlier today, The Prime Minister’s Office posted on their official twitter page denies a viral message in which PM Muhyiddin will be making a special announcement at 3pm. A picture of an alleged promotion of the announcement circulated on the social media. PMO clarified the situation and informed the public that PM Muhyiddin will address the nation at the designated time specified. Malaysia currently has 8,779 confirmed cases recorded with 123 deaths and 8,553 recoveries.
