Police to investigate Facebook accounts allegedly mocking Dr. Noor Hisham

KUALA LUMPUR – Police are expected to do an investigation on those behind ‘MGAG’ Facebook page for allegedly demeaning and mocking Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in an image post.

According to Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department deputy director (Investigation/Legal) Deputy Commissioner Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, the department has opened an inquiry regarding the incident after a report was filed in Senawang, Negri Sembilan.

Faridalathrash said that the investigation are underway and those involved in the ‘MGAG’ Facebook page will be called to assist with the investigation. The case will be under the Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications Act 1998.

A picture of Dr Noor Hisham hosting a holding a press conference from his residence was edited and posted by ‘MGAG’ Facebook page in an alleged ‘mocking’ manner that made rounds in social media.

According to sources, the person who is responsible for editing the picture have removed the post and apologised. However, screenshots of the post has already gone viral.

As of noon today, there are 13,993 total cases with 10,501 recoveries and 141 death in the country. The Health director-general said that the new surge of cases seen in the country could be seen as a start of a “new wave” in Covid-19 infections. The government recently announced imposing CMCO for a few districts in Sabah which started yesterday (October 7) to curb the spread of the virus.
