PETALING JAYA – According to senior minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, The country’s border will remain close for non-Malaysians who is seeking to work in the country.
The comment came after hearing several pleads from businesses with staff or workers stuck abroad such as Thailand or whose home helper currently in Philippines or Indonesia.
While he is aware of their predicament, Sabri reiterated that the health and safety of Malaysians is paramount as the government sees the health aspect as the most important thing right now.
Sabri added that the government has made the decision to let the borders remain close with definite timeframe on when it will ease.
The senior minister stated that the reason why the government close the borders is because of the global trends of new Covid-19 clusters that came from imported cases.
The government is keeping the border shut to further curb the spread of the infection as well as continually strengthening the detection of positive cases in the country. Ismail Sabri said that the government will only allow non-Malaysians to enter the country if they meet the following criteria such as spouses or business owners.
