Seventeen Makes History as First K-pop Group to Perform at Lollapalooza

On Sunday, September 8, SEVENTEEN K-pop groups debuted at the Lollapalooza Berlin music festival, therefore commemorating a historic milestone. Beginning on September 9 at midnight in the Philippines, the group’s riveting 90-minute show captivated the viewers. 

Apart from being Seventeen’s maiden performance at Lollapalooza, this historic event established their global music sensation character. 

An Electrifying Performance

Having 19 songs overall from their past, seventeen’s setlist presented their large discogram. Beginning the evening with a great arrival on the Main Stage South at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, the performance radiated energy. 

Acclaimed for their sophisticated choreography and mesmerizing stage presence, the group put up a performance suitable for their standing. Among the fan favorites on the slate were “Super, “Don Quixote, “Dar+ing, “Ready to Love, “Rock with You, “Left & Right, “Clap, “Maestro, “SOS, “Hot, “Headliner, “Together (English version),” “God of Music,,” and “Very Nice.” One particularly noteworthy performance was their six-round cycle of their major hit “Very Nice,” a fan-favorite tune that has come to characterize their live appearances. 

This repeated but exciting part, which underlined Seventeen’s commitment to providing outstanding musical experiences, delighted the audience. 

Special Notes and Emotional Reversals

Seventeen took part as a 12-member group in Berlin; Jun missed due to Chinese scheduling problems. Since the concert was Jeonghan’s last one before he entered the military, for supporters it also marked a poignant event. His forthcoming military duty gave the occasion emotional resonance, and supporters answered with real yells and encouragement. 

For the group and its supporters, Jeonghan’s enlistment symbolizes a sea change. The reaction of the audience underlined the intimate link between Seventeen and their supporters. Joshua said, speaking English at the group’s introduction, “We’re quite honoured to be here since it’s our first time visiting Berlin. We value the opportunity to play here. We truly value your booking of us. We made great effort to show you all a show. 

Vernon also shared his excitement at the eagerly awaited opportunity to perform at Berlin and Lollapalooza: “We know how much you have been waiting for us. And at finally being here makes one feel terrific. This is our first [performance] at Lollapalooza in addition to our first visit to Berlin. We also first headline it, and that’s only because to you people.“

Changing the setlist and unit stages 

Apart from presenting seventeen of the best songs, the performance highlighted the abilities of numerous subgroups inside the band by featuring their signature unit stages. The unit’s stages consisted in **Fighting** by BSS (Seungkwan, DK, and Hoshi), a high-spirited performance integrating the three members’ respective skills. 

In Cheers to Youth the Vocal Unit (Jeonghan, Joshua, Woozi, DK, and Seungkwan) deftly commemorates their youth and musical career. In Spell the Performance Unit (Hoshi, Jun, The8, and Dino) offers a very impressive display of dancing talent and stage presence. Presenting a moving performance emphasizing their rap and hip-hop techniques was the Hip-Hop Unit (S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon). 

The group leaders, SVT Leaders, present a happy and coherent performance in “Cheers” (S.Coups, Hoshi, and Woozi).

Governmental Reaction and Fan Support

Jeonghan’s supporters yelled his name during the performance, therefore providing a gentle send-off before his military duty. The program acted as a poignant reminder of the human costs heroes pay and their tight relationship with their fans.

Berlin Lineup for Lollapalooza and Global Appreciations Seventeen led the second day of Lollapalooza Berlin, sharing the stage with other well-known artists as Sam Smith, The Chainsmokes, Niall Horan, CRO, and Loyle Carner. Martin Garrix, Burna Boy, OneRepublic, Louis Tomlinson, Shirin David, and Von Wegen Lisbeth headed the first day’s top performers. 

Seventeen’s involvement in the festival highlights not only their growing relevance in the global music scene but also their growing influence in the foreign music industry. 

Future Releases and Tours

Seventeen is preparing for their twelve-mini-album release. Fresh music from the group excites fans even if details about its theme, tracklist, and release date are yet unknown. Furthermore, starting in October 2024, seventeen will start their “Seventeen Right Here World Tour”. 

This trip will verify their global appeal and reaffirm their leadership as a top K-pop act. 

Group Histories and Achievements

Made by Pledis Entertainment, Seventeen debuted in May 2015 with their first mini-album “17 Carat.” 

Out of the 13 members are S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. Seventeen was named UNESCO’s first-ever Goodwill Ambassador for Youth in June 2024, a great honor honoring their good influence and commitment to world young issues.

As the first K-pop concert set at the Glastonbury Festival earlier that month, they also made history. Seventeen’s creative performance at Lollapalooza Berlin is proof of their increasing influence and dedication to engage with fans all over. Their achievements maintain boosting standards for K-pop and global musical events.
