Singaporean Footballer Adam Swandi’s unfinished symphony!

The Lion City Sailors/LCS has announced the heartbreaking decision of the popular Singaporean footballer and a midfielder of the LCS FC Adam Swandi who is 28 years old, setting foot away from the field forever. Adam is forced to announce his retirement due to the fatal heart condition. The management has added in their statement that he will be continuing to contribute to the game in non-playing roles.

What happened to Adam?

During the Singapore Premier League which was held in September between LCS and Tanjong Pagar United, Adam was indulged in the match. It was reported that he wasn’t feeling well but he entered into the field as a substitute. During the match he was given medical treatment from which he has been diagnosed with an underlying heart condition. His heart condition has been termed as “Cardiomyopathy”.

This ailment makes the heart muscle difficult to pump the blood to the whole body. The medical experts said that this might result in serious heart conditions, or even heart failure if he continues to play football (which requires continuous body movements like running).

Adam’s Emotional Farewell Speech

“I’ve had big ambitions and dreams in football, and I think I’ve achieved most of them. I’m very thankful for the career I’ve had and deeply grateful to the Sailors for supporting me every step of the way.

I’m acutely aware of how lucky I am to still be alive”

Fans and supporters of LCS express their wishes and an emotional adieu to their beloved player on the comment sections of his official instagram account.

“Following his premature retirement, the Sailors have pledged our support to help him transition smoothly into life after football” – LCS FC
