(C) Missile Launch Test
The tense situation and the on-going dispute between South Korea & North Korea has begun since the 1950s. This led to the separation of the country into two different ideologies: capitalism and communism. Over the years the unresolved border issues, political differences, and military provocations are leading both the countries to showcase their power & advancement in the military and missile technology.
On Monday, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff stated that there could be a missile launch test that takes place in North Korea at the end of the year. The North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un is planning to launch a hypersonic medium range ballistic missile and a garbage balloon into South Korea during the Central Committee meeting of the Workers Party of Korea. He has previously aimed to launch three military reconnaissance satellites but the failure of the missile in May led to no new launches in North Korea so far.
“Suicide drones are one of the missions Kim Jong Un is focusing on. North Korea with Russia’s support may attempt to enhance its negotiating ability with the United States by conducting various strategic provocations next year including launching an ICBM or conducting a nuclear test” – South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff
