Sri Lanka Officially Welcomes the High-Speed Internet Service of Musk’s “Starlink”

India, Pakistan are still expected to be launching the internet service of an ambitious businessman Elon Musk’s Starlink, high-speed internet service but today Sri Lanka has successfully launched their service. And the detailed plans have also been revealed. 

Initially Parliamentary Amendments were passed to dissolve the outdated telecom laws and to grant the license for launching the LEO satellite based service of ‘Starlink’ in their country based on the legal plans. Following that the trial operations began in June 2025, and the official launch was established on 2 July 2025.

  • Residential – 15,000 LKR (per month)
  • Hardware (Starlink Standard Kit) – 118,000 LKR

Monthly Business Plans [Priority – Fixed]

  • 40 GB – 20,994.24 LKR
  • 1 TB – 62,859.24 LKR
  • 2 TB – 125,965.46 LKR
  • 6 TB – 377,896.39 LKR
  • Hardware (Starlink Performance Kit) – 911,000 LKR

Benefits

  • Plan validity will start upon kit activation or 30 days after shipment.
  • Billing will be Prepaid.
  • Download speeds range from 30-220 Mbps, while upload speeds range from 5-40 Mbps.
  • Customers can cancel services anytime without early termination fees.
