On Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the areas in and near Taal Volcano Island are still under threat from potential hazards.
Advertising In 8 a.m. PHIVOLCS newsletter said persistent magmatic activity under the volcano could lead to eruptive activity at the main crater.
Alert Level 3 remains in place over Taal Volcano.
Because of this, PHIVOLCS warned in Taal about possible sudden expulsions of steam-driven and even weak phreatomagmatic explosions, volcanic earthquakes, ashfall and lethal volcanic gases.
Some 50 to 100 meter-high low emissions of steam-laden plumes were detected over the volcano over the past 24 hours, drifting southwest.
132 volcanic earthquakes were recorded by the Taal Volcano Network including three low-frequency events and 11 harmonic tremors lasting two to three minutes.
The emission of sulfur dioxide remained below device detection.
PHIVOLCS proposes a ban on entry into Taal Volcano Island, also into areas over Taal Lake and within the Main Crater radius of seven kilometres.
