Behind the Fading Glitter: Former NCT Member Taeil’s Trial Begins Amid Serious Assault Charges

Moon Tae-il, was celebrated as the soulful main vocalist of the NCT boy group but his current plight is found at the center of a deeply troubling legal storm. He is known as Taeil among the fans and earned fame through his powerful voice and the charming persona, which helped him to even set a Guinness World Record for the fastest Instagram Growth. In addition to that his musical contributions and stage presence made him a fan favourite in the world of K-Pop.

The Fall of K-Pop Idol – ‘Taeil’

His musical and glittering star life began to fade and fall apart after encountering serious charges imposed on him. The available information states that in 2024 Taeil and two other persons togetherly assaulted an intoxicated woman in Seoul. And this case was described as “Special Quasi-Rape”, which means the person is accused of taking advantage of the victim’s unconscious state. Taeil appeared during his first trial and he was admitted as guilty in the trial on 18 June 2025. The defenders of the victim are claiming for seven years of prison, alongside restrictions on working near minors.

And the final sentencing hearing will be taking place on 10 July 2025 at Seoul, Central District Court.

It was a shocking moment to the fans who were following him as their idols in the music for his once bright career which has fallen from grace. And the former agency of his SM Entertainment has also broken the ties with him in late 2024 after the allegations began to explode swiftly. Some are even expressing their anger towards him by commenting in the comment box sections of various social media pages.
