Tomorrowland Main Stage Fire: Belgium Festival Faces Major Setback Before Opening Weekend

Tomorrowland, the world-famous music festival in Belgium, was hit by a massive setback after its main stage was burned down a few days before the music festival was supposed to start. On Wednesday, the inaugural day of the festival, through the main stage in Tomorrowland, Belgium, heavy black smoke rose in the air, and members of the estimated 1,000 employees had to evacuate. Even with such a big blow, the organizers of Tomorrowland are already busy day and night so that finally the festival will run as scheduled this weekend.

The world-famous electronic dance music festival, which is considered to be one of the largest music festivals in the annual ranking, was to open its doors to thousands of music fans on Friday. The Tomorrowland inferno has come as a shock to the fans everywhere; nevertheless, the event managers are determined to give the audience a memorable journey.

What Happened During the Tomorrowland Fire

Wednesday evening saw the nature of the main stage of Tomorrowland burn down to flames, which was indeed the highlight of the festival. In video footage, huge clouds of black smoke were seen rising out of the festival venue where fireworks were triggered off by mistake in the blaze. The fire was not controlled quickly, and emergency services arrived at the scene very quickly.

Belgium’s public broadcaster VRT said the main stage was virtually reduced to ashes. Approximately 1,000 employees who were in the process of making last-minute preparations were evacuated immediately. Luckily, there were no Tomorrowland patrons when the occurrence of fire in Tomorrowland took place, and it was confirmed that there were no injuries that transpired during the event.

One of the local people named Morgan Hermans described the horror of the situation when she heard some fireworks and saw a smoke cloud around her house. It is among the biggest events of the entire year. It is a crazy thing to invite people which can be found throughout the world, as we live in a small town, and it is definitely a lot of fun. What a good thing, So we were awfully scared a minute or two, in Boom, you see,” she said.

The Tomorrowland fire was also unknown to have any cause, but the investigation is on-going. Individuals got instructed to stay away from the smoke and clear the path so that the emergency workers could reach the location as informed by the local police.

Festival Continues Despite Main Stage Destruction

Organizers are intent on pressing on with the festival weekend despite the horrific main stage Tomorrowland fire. DreamVille campsite will be as scheduled (Thursday) with an anticipated 38,000 festival-goers staying within the perimeter during the festival.

The Tomorrowland spokesperson, Debby Wilmsen, described the emotional shock of losing the main stage as workers were forced to see years of passionate labour go down in the fire. It is going to be a great festival. It will lack a central stage. But with any luck, we can change at least something, but I still cannot say anything about it, Wilmsen said.

The organizers of the festival are concentrating on solving the problem of the weekend of the festival, and they are working on alternative solutions to hold the performances. Although the main stage can not be rebuilt within time, the Tomorrowland crew is trying creative options to make the show happen.

Tomorrowland fire is one big blow to one of the most prestigious electronic dance music festivals in the world. But the strength of organizers and the passion of the music world at other festivals show that Tomorrowland will live through this failure.

Local officials continue researching the cause of the fire, while preparations are underway for the other stages and areas that were not affected by the fire.
