Port workers in the Philippines were instructed to allow travelers to and from Taiwan to enter and leave, stated by the Immigration Bureau (BI).
The order came after the lifting of the travel ban from and to Taiwan by the Philippines to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease in 2019.
According to the BI, the lifting of the ban also included members of the diplomatic corps, regardless of their nationality.
Morente called this a “welcome development,” adding that the office is ready to implement any policy changes as president Rodrigo Duterte has directed.
Although travel restrictions have been lifted to Taiwan, travel ban remains in place for foreign nationals coming from China, Hong Kong and Macau.
Taiwan welcomed the decision of the Philippine government to lift the ban days after it deliberated against the Philippines.
