UAE Tops the World in 223 Global Competitiveness Indicators

Thanks to its clever management and forward thinking vision that prioritizes human development as the cornerstone and major objective of growth, the United Arab Emirates has continued to rise in global competitiveness reports in 2024 gaining top positions in important indexes.

The UAE ranked among one of the top five worldwide in 444 indicators up from 406 in 2023. And also placed first globally in 223 indicators up from 215 in 2023. Additionally it placed in the top 10 worldwide in 661 indicators up from 604 in 2023 and 508 in 2022.

The UAE’s progress can be directly attributed to continuous efforts to modernize the legal system, introduction of proactive measures to support investment and the economy, rule of law, use of cutting edge technology and growth of numerous industries to improve the standard of living for all residents and citizens.

After making it into the top 10 nations in the survey last year, the UAE moved up three spots to seventh place internationally in the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2024.

The UAE ranked second globally in economic performance, fourth in government efficiency and tenth in business environment efficiency by demonstrating exceptional performance across all report aspects. The UAE’s strong performance has helped it to top the world in more than 90 indicators that are part of its major and subfactors.

According to the United Nations Development Programme’s 2023 – 2024 Human Development Index report, the United Arab Emirates placed first in its area and 17th out of 193 countries worldwide. With a rate of 7.7, the highest since the survey’s inception, the UAE topped the 2023 – 2024 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor report for the third year in a row.

According to the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Development Index 2024 which was released in May, the United Arab Emirates ranked fifth globally and first in the Arab world for road quality, tenth globally and second in the Arab world for public transport service efficiency and ninth globally and first in the Arab world for port service efficiency.

During 2024, the UAE dominated the globe in a number of civil aviation competitiveness indices. It ranked Number One globally in the 2024 Travel and Tourism Development Index’s Quality of Air Transport Infrastructure Index. In addition it ranks third in the world for air transport service efficiency and number of seats for weekly international departures per kilometer.
