Vice President Sara Duterte has been Filed a Third Impeachment Complaint

On December 2,2024, civil society activists alleged twenty four accusations against the VP Sara which includes the failure of accounting of confidential funds spent, involving in extrajudicial killings, and threatening the House speaker Martin Romualdez. Followed by another set of complaints filed against her on December 4,2024 by the activists which was led by Bagong Alyansang.

The civil society leaders, Catholic priests, and lawyers coalited together and filed a third impeachment complaint against the Filipino Vice President Sara Duterte on Thursday (December 19). Some speculations are swirling around the political perspective that there is a continuous disagreement going on between the VP Sara and President Marcos. And the 70 page impeachment underscores the culpable violation of the constitution, public trust betrayal, bribery, corruption and other high crimes which involved VP Sara into it.

“On behalf of the Filipino people, complainants believe that it is not only the constitutional obligation of the members of the House of Representatives to impeach and for the Senate to from office Vice President Sara Z.Duterte. That obligation now becomes a moral one”-Complaint.

Questions raised over the confidential funds, PHP 125 million which was allocated in 2022 during the tenure of Sara as the accountable officer. Without her knowledge no funds shall be distributed to the respective sectors to make their allegations stronger the complaint points out the funds which was released to Col.Raymund Dante Lachica, the commander of the Vice Presidential Security and Protection group in 2022, and tp Col.Dennis Nolasco, DepEd’s designated security officer in 2023.

“This raises the valid presumption that VP Sara had knowledge of these irregularities in the disbursement of the agencies’ confidential funds committed by her immediate staff Acosta, Fajarda, Lachica, and Nolasco”, added the complaint.

The receipts which were submitted by VP Sara to the Commission on Audit regarding the funds looks so fictitious and paradoxical, the records of birth, death, or marriage had no official records in Philippine Statistics Authority. It is concluded in the complaint that the allocated funds are not utilised properly for its purpose.

“This decision is not made lightly but with a deep sense of responsibility to ensure accountability at the highest levels of government. Her inflammatory statements and apparent disregard for transparency and due process constitute grounds for impeachment”, said Gabriel Bordado
