VSee Health Tackles Maternal Mortality With AI in Philippines

To lower high maternal mortality in hard-to-reach parts of Zamboanga Sibugay in the Philippines, VSee Health introduced Project MAMA (Mom’s AI for Maternity Aid). Thankfully, the California digital health company, traded on Nasdaq as VSEE, formed a partnership with experts from Stanford University and Ateneo de Zamboanga University to offer essential prenatal care to women who did not receive adequate maternal healthcare before. Many innovative technologies are brought together in Project MAMA to solve healthcare problems affecting people in isolated places.

  • AI-based chatbots able to chat in local languages
  • Ultrasound devices that can be carried around
  • Comprehensive electronic health records system
  • Patients can book a video appointment with OB-GYN specialists.

It takes only four days for the entire telehealth structure to be set up and begin assisting those in need. According to Dr. Chen, “Through this program, we are providing quality health care to moms who have not previously had access to ultrasounds or medical care from OB-GYNs.” VSee will make more use of AI to detect risks of maternal mortality in patients early on, as a demonstration of their effort to bridge gaps in healthcare across the globe. This pilot is part of VSee’s plan to make healthcare accessible to people from underserved communities worldwide.
