Types of Work Permits in Malaysia

Malaysia has three major types of work permits depending on job description, skill and period of contract: Employment Pass Malaysia, Temporary Employment Pass and Professional Visit Pass. The Employment Pass is aimed at the highly skilled professionals who usually have a minimum level of salaries and specialty. The Temporary Employment Pass is suited to semi-skilled jobs in the accepted technologies, including manufacturing, construction, and agriculture. In the meantime, the Professional Visit Pass enables foreign professionals to serve in Malaysia on short-term assignments without necessarily being employed by a company in Malaysia.

Eligibility and Documentation Requirements

In order to get a Malaysian work permit, one must qualify based on the type of job, status of employment as well as the qualification of the worker.
