The latest global passport rankings have officially recorded Singapore as the world’s most powerful passport, overtaking the United States. The update reflects a significant change in the strength of international traveling that was made by visa-free movement and diplomatic access.
Passport Power Sees Major Shift
With about 195 destinations that the Singapore passport can now access without a visa or on arrival, the passport is now ranked at the top of the global index. This success confirms the fact that Singapore has good international relations and global positioning strategy.
The USA passport, on the contrary, has been on a downward slope, falling even lower in the list because of the stricter visa regulation and the shifting global alliances. Although the American passport holders continue to have broad travel opportunities, they are no longer ahead of some of the Asian and European countries.
According to experts, the emergence of the world’s most powerful passport is also an indication of how the mobility of the world is more and more becoming the sovereignty of diplomacy, openness, and bilateral agreements instead of economic strength.
