METRO MANILA – At least 12 areas were placed under tropical cyclone signal number 3 as Typhoon “Quinta” maintains its strength and moves over the Mindoro Strait late Monday morning.
In a weather bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at 11 p.m. Sunday. The agency said that Quinta is seen moving across Souther Luzon until Monday night and most likely to pass over the vicinity of Southern Quezon, Marinduque, Mindoro and Batangas in the next 6 to 12 hours.
The typhoon is likely to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Tuesday afternoon.
PAGASA said that the typhoon may maintain its strength and it may further intensifies once it comes over the West Philippine Sea by Monday afternoon.
Signal No. 2 was up over the following areas:
Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Calamian Islands, Batangas and the extreme northern portion of Antique (Caluya) As of Sunday, “Quinta” has maximum sustained winds of 125 kph with gustiness up to 150 kph. It slighty weakened to 30 kph maximum sustained winds in the 8PM severe weather bulletin.
