14-day Covid-19 quarantine done, 188 Indonesian crew members of World Dream ready to go home

Observation period of 14-day quarantine for COVID-19 has been done for Indonesian crew members of World Dream cruise ship. That 188 Indonesian will soon leave Sebaru Island in the Thousand Islands regency of Jakarta after completed this.

The World Dream itself suspended their operations after docking in at the Kai Tak Cruise terminal, Hong Kong in early February. It spent days in quarantine at that terminal after three Chinese nationals who had been aboard the ship between Jan. 19 and 24 tested positive for COVID-19.

Previosly, evacuation were done by the Indonesian Navy for the 188 crew members from the virus-stricken cruise ship on Feb. 26. After, they were transferred to Sebaru Island for quarantine.

According to the commander of an Integrated Joint Task Command (Kogasgabpad) handling the quarantine, Rear Adm. Yudo Margono on Thursday, the quarantine would end on Friday.

Scheduling on Saturday, all of the crew members will be transported to mainland Jakarta using naval ship KRI Semarang-594, before returning to their homes. Around 60 percent of the crew members are from Bali and have mainly worked as cooks.

Yudo said, each member will receive a certificate from the Health Ministry declaring they are free from COVID-19. “The latest test results show that all of the crew members are healthy,” he concluded.
