KUALA LUMPUR – 1Malaysia Development Bhd trial has been postponed today by the High Court after the defence team in the trial was said to have a member self-quarantined due to suspected Covid-19 infection.

Lead defence counsel Muhammad Shafee Abdullah informed the court that lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah received a phone call from his wife that his sister-in-law had to be tested for the virus.

The sister-in-law went to a gathering where Shafee and his team were present.

Lead prosecutor Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram did not object to the postponement as he has to be tested himself after being in close contact with patients-under-investigation (PUI) of Covid-19.

Justice Sequerah however ordered the defense to provide the court with medical letters confirming the sister-in-law had taken the test and whether Shafee and his team needs to be on a quarantine leave.

Najib Razak, 67, is facing four charges of  of power abuse totalling RM2.28bil from 1MDB funds.
