As families get ready for the annual neighbourhood candy hunt, Halloween parties and community organised events, it’s time to get ready for Halloween on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
This year’s Trick or Treat celebration season will feature the familiar door-to-door tradition as well as more and more schools, churches and community groups hosting trunk-or-treat events.
But, official hours for trick-or-treating vary from city to city and it will take some planning to have a safe and Happy Halloween evening.
Trick or Treat 2026: Local Halloween Hours
Multiple cities in the United States have announced their plans for Oct. 31. There is no nationwide schedule; the hours for trick-or-treating are listed on the municipal announcements, which are different for Pittsburgh (5:30–7:30) and Cleveland (6-8).
Trunk-or-Treat Events and Community Celebrations
Children can get candy from decorated trunks that are attached to vehicles at designated parking areas, as part of a trunk-or-treat event. These are often held in schools, churches and community groups. It is the responsibility of the family to check the conditions of registration, admission fees and program dates with the organisers.
Halloween Costume and Pedestrian Safety Guidelines
For younger children, reflective costumes, flashlights and supervision are recommended by Safe Kids Worldwide. Sidewalks and cross at designated crossing points, avoid distracting devices. Drivers are advised to pay special attention to residential neighbourhoods.

In addition, families should comply with the rules of the households and the local community that participate.
