The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is pushing for digital platform InaRISK to be promoted in public awareness preparation processes in Indonesia.

InaRISK Disaster Awareness is a project of InaRISK that supports the knowledge of local hazards and potential risks, and the preparation of communities for disaster.

The application’s capabilities were showcased in a flood preparedness meeting in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, on October 30, 2026. The project is part of a wider project to strengthen disaster resilience by providing easy-to-access information.

InaRISK Disaster Awareness Strengthened Through BNPB Initiative

In Banjarmasin, BNPB disaster risk analyst Sesa Wiguna explained how the InaRISK application can assist in public disaster preparedness during the meeting held on 29th to 31st October. The talks centered on enhancing information systems on floods and coordination between government agencies.

How InaRISK Helps Communities Identify Disaster Risks

The InaRISK Personal application offers geospatial earthquake, flood, landslide, tsunami and volcanic hazard information. Users can view what threats may pose and be guided on what to be prepared, rather than waiting to find out risks after emergencies develop.

Indonesia Promotes Flood Preparedness in South Kalimantan

The Ministry of Home Affairs held a discussion in Banjarmasin to enhance the flood information system. Hazard identification, vulnerability assessments and response capacity (especially for communities vulnerable to chronic flooding) were emphasised.

Digital Technology Supports National Disaster Risk Reduction

BNPB is developing disaster risk mapping to assist the government in planning and educating the public. Combining official information and available digital tools can enable authorities to locate vulnerable communities and develop preparedness strategies.
