Not only has the world-renowned K-Pop group BTS taken over the charts, but they’ve also changed the way people perceive fashion around the globe. The seven-member group of BTS has partnered with many of the biggest names in luxury fashion over the last few years, bringing K-Pop to the world’s runways and marketing campaigns.
BTS became official ambassadors for Louis Vuitton in 2021, creating a historic partnership between K-Pop groups and high fashion.
Along with participating in global marketing campaigns, BTS has also been involved with Louis Vuitton’s fashion shows, wearing custom-made designs from Louis Vuitton’s creative director at the time, Virgil Abloh; all of this has further connected music and high fashion together.
Before partnering with Louis Vuitton, the members of BTS wore specially created garments designed by Dior that were worn by them on stage whilst they toured around the globe during 2019. Dior’s artistic director, Kim Jones, produced a collection of exclusive costuming specifically designed and inspired by the legacy of the brand.
Dior gained an incredible amount of exposure to new and younger audiences through this partnership with BTS. Dior also became part of the new cultural trend that K-Pop is creating within global fashion.
As the members of BTS began to develop their own personal names in the world of fashion, many obtained their individual luxury brand partnerships as well.
These partnerships gave BTS greater reach beyond music, stretching into the realm of global fashion marketing.
BTS has had a major influence on the acceptance of gender-neutral fashion, bold colours and luxury-style clothing inspired by streetwear; they are helping to make these types of fashion accepted within mainstream fashion conversations. BTS has a large following of fans known as ARMY; this following frequently makes purchasing decisions based on the clothing worn by BTS.
Experts monitoring fashion and BTS have spotted an immediate increase in the volume of search engine activity and purchases for the brands partnering with the BTS artists. They see huge value in either future collaborations with BTS or as a result of the BTS collaboration.
